Extraction of Teeth Columbia MO
Extraction of single, multiple, or all remaining teeth is a very routine procedure for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Our doctors will provide you with the expertise to remove teeth efficiently and as comfortably as possible. This procedure is performed multiple times daily. The advanced training of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons ensures we are able to assess not only your intra-oral needs, but also take into consideration any general health concerns. Our training and extensive experience allows us to minimize risk for complications associated with tooth extraction and we are able to manage any complication that may occur. We have advanced training and licensure to provide I.V. sedation anesthesia to optimize your comfort during the procedure. A pre-operative consultation is required for this service and some patients may not be candidates for this type of anesthesia. Teeth can also be removed utilizing local anesthesia alone or in conjunction with nitrous oxide analgesia (laughing gas). We can also provide hospital based surgery for those patients who require this service due to health problems or extensive surgical requirements.
Extraction of multiple teeth may also require Pre-Prosthetic Surgery.

Infections are a common occurrence associated with an unhealthy tooth or teeth. It is important to have unhealthy teeth repaired or removed in order to prevent infection. Signs and symptoms of infection can include pain, swelling, foul taste or smell, general malaise, and fever. Swelling can occur rapidly and become very dangerous, extending to all parts of the face and neck. In a few cases, infection can be life threatening when the swelling associated with lower molars or wisdom teeth extends below the jaw into the neck. The swelling can cause inability to open the mouth and impinge on the throat and airway, ultimately leading to inability to swallow or breath. These symptoms are emergent and you should report directly to the local Emergency Department or call 911.
Our doctors are well trained at treating dental related infections. Antibiotics are used to treat infections, but proper treatment also includes removal of the cause of infection (tooth extraction) and if an abscess (accumulation of pus) is present, an incision and drainage procedure will be necessary.
If you have signs or symptoms of infection you should contact us or your doctor/dentist of record to initiate antibiotic therapy early. Unfortunately, state law requires that you be a patient of record before prescriptions can be written. We will make every attempt to see patients in a prompt manner when infection has progressed to swelling.
If you have a general dentist of record, it is appropriate to see your dentist first regarding your dental condition. Many teeth can be repaired and do not require extraction. For this reason we prefer that you at least discuss this with your general dentist first. If a tooth or teeth are not restorable, or if you decline restorative procedures, your dentist can refer you to our office for extraction of a tooth or teeth. The decision for referral should be made with your general dentist to help ensure continuity of care. Having a plan for tooth replacement after removal also will require the input of your general dentist. If you do not have a general dentist, there are many excellent local dentists and we are happy to suggest someone. I can't express the kindness and warmth that I endured yesterday 07/07/16. It started with Vicky with her warmth at the front counter then proceeded to Joyce who I asked to speak to and Joyce allowed me the pleasure of getting my extraction done and calling the next day to make the payment. Now, I…

My procedure was so comfortable that when I braced myself for the tooth removal I found it was already removed. Also when I handed in the check for payment I was told it was $80.00 less because the removal was easier than expected. For both these reasons this place gets a high score. Thank you,…
